During his visit to the temple town, Adityanath also offered prayers at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple and Hanumangarhi, officials said.
Vedanti (67) died at a hospital in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, where he was undergoing treatment after his health deteriorated. Hospital authorities said he had suffered from septicaemia and multiple organ failure before succumbing to a heart attack.
A prominent figure in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, Vedanti served as the executive president of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Machhlishahar and Pratapgarh constituencies between 1996 and 1999.
A disciple of Mahant Abhiram Das of Hanumangarhi, Vedanti resided at Vashishtha Bhavan in Ayodhya. His mortal remains were brought to Ayodhya for the last rites, which will be performed in the temple town, his disciples said.
