Air India on Thursday announced an order for 30 single-aisle aircraft from Boeing, marking a significant step in the airline’s ongoing fleet expansion and modernization. The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu at the Wings India 2026 aviation summit.

Alongside the aircraft order, Air India entered into a multi-year deal with Boeing Global Services under the Component Services Programme. This agreement covers the airline’s entire Boeing 787 fleet, including both existing aircraft and those yet to be delivered. The partnership aims to enhance maintenance efficiency and minimize operational downtime across the airline’s widebody fleet.

The addition of these 30 single-aisle aircraft is expected to strengthen Air India’s domestic and short-haul international operations. Analysts note that this move will improve connectivity, increase flight frequencies, and allow the airline to serve emerging routes with greater operational flexibility.
