Reaffirming its commitment to the vision of #BrighterLivesBetterWorld, Signify, a global leader in lighting solutions, on Monday announced the rollout of its flagship CSR programme Har Gaon Roshan in Chhattisgarh. The initiative was formally inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, signalling a significant step towards improving rural infrastructure and safety in the state.

 

The project is being implemented in collaboration with the Government of Chhattisgarh and Bharat Cares, and aims to install energy-efficient LED streetlights in 70 villages located in and around the Indravati Tiger Reserve region. The initiative seeks to enhance visibility, security, and quality of life in remote communities while promoting sustainable development.

 

Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, the programme focuses on strengthening village-level infrastructure, improving public safety, and supporting local economic activity. The partnership brings together Signify’s technological expertise, the state government’s development agenda, and Bharat Cares’ grassroots engagement to deliver long-term community impact.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Nikhil Gupta, Head of Marketing, Strategy, Government Affairs & CSR at Signify, Greater India, said lighting plays a vital role beyond illumination, acting as a catalyst for safety, opportunity, and social inclusion. He added that the Har Gaon Roshan initiative demonstrates the power of collaboration between government, industry, and communities in driving inclusive growth and supporting India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.

 

Bhomik Shah, Founder of Bharat Cares, highlighted Chhattisgarh’s unique cultural and ecological significance, noting that the initiative will contribute to safer villages, inclusive progress, and a balanced relationship between people and nature through sustainable infrastructure.

The programme follows a community-centric approach, with implementation carried out in coordination with district authorities and village representatives to ensure that local requirements are addressed effectively. The installation of LED streetlights is expected to improve safety after dark, extend hours for commercial and social activities, and encourage greater participation in education and community life through the use of energy-efficient technology.

 

Having already illuminated several villages across different states, Har Gaon Roshan continues to reflect Signify’s long-standing commitment to rural development.
