West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday held separate meetings with industrialist Ashok Todi and representatives of Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi as part of the government's efforts to attract fresh investments to the state, a senior official said.

The meetings held at the state secretariat Nabanna were focused on investment opportunities and industrial development in West Bengal.

Industries Minister Tapas Roy was present during the meeting with the Mitsubishi delegation.

Roy later said that Mitsubishi has expressed interest in setting up a semiconductor manufacturing plant in the state.

The government official said the discussions with Todi, chairman of hosiery major Lux Industries Limited, and Mitsubishi were part of a series of interactions the chief minister has been holding with industry leaders to encourage new investments.

Lux Industries, which owns the Lux Cozi brand, is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for a Rs 600 crore expansion of its integrated manufacturing facility at Dankuni on July 11.

"The government is engaging with investors across different sectors to understand their requirements and facilitate projects in West Bengal. These meetings are aimed at creating a favourable environment for investment and industrial growth," the official said.
