A bomb scare prompted heightened security measures in Nagpur on Wednesday after Mayor Neeta Thakre received an email claiming that explosive devices had been planted at key Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) premises in the city, police officials said.
Acting swiftly on the threat, security agencies launched an extensive search operation at the RSS headquarters located in Mahal, as well as at Dr Hedgewar Smruti Bhavan in Reshimbagh.
A Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was immediately deployed to examine the premises and conduct a detailed sweep of the locations mentioned in the email.
According to police, the message specifically alleged that explosives had been planted at both RSS establishments, triggering precautionary security protocols.
Following the searches, officials confirmed that no suspicious objects or explosive materials were discovered at either site.
Security arrangements in and around sensitive locations in the city were tightened as a precaution, while authorities continued inspections to ensure public safety.
Police have initiated an investigation to trace the origin of the threatening email and determine its authenticity. Efforts are underway to identify those responsible for sending the message.
