Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Thursday formally inaugurated the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Mizoram Group Headquarters at his office, marking the state’s first dedicated NCC headquarters. Previously, the Mizoram NCC was administered under Assam State.

The inauguration was attended by Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister for Sports & Youth Services; Major General Anurag Vij, ADG, NCC North Eastern Region; and Brigadier GS Arora, Commander, Group Headquarters, Aizawl.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Lalduhoma highlighted the efforts to establish the NCC Group Headquarters in Mizoram and urged the state’s youth to actively participate, using the platform to build discipline, character, and positive values. He also voiced concern over the growing impact of substance abuse among young people and stressed the need to protect them from harmful influences.

Major General Anurag Vij said the NCC trains youth to be self-disciplined, courageous, and responsible citizens while remaining free from unhealthy lifestyles. He praised initiatives by the Mizoram government aligned with these goals and underscored NCC’s commitment to provide full support. Vij also noted that while Northeast youth are disciplined and capable, they often face perceptions of limited integration with the rest of India. NCC aims to address this by promoting wider exposure and interaction with people from other states.

On infrastructure, officials said suitable land from the state government would allow NCC to construct dedicated facilities, which could be provided on a long-term lease.
