As Pakistan marked what it calls “Kashmir Solidarity Day” on February 5, Kashmiri activist Javed Beigh has dismissed the observance as state-sponsored propaganda aimed at diverting attention from Islamabad’s own human rights record in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and other regions under its control.

In a post shared on social media platform X, Beigh described Pakistan’s annual observance as a “fabricated spectacle” and said India’s response was reflected in recent counter-terror operations carried out in Jammu and Kashmir.

Referring to the same date, Beigh claimed that a Pakistani national identified as Adil, whom he alleged was associated with the Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad, was neutralised during a security operation in Kishtwar district. According to the post, the operation—named “Trashi-I”—was conducted jointly by troops of the Indian Army’s CIF Delta, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the Dichhar area.

Beigh alleged that Jaish-e-Muhammad, which he described as being headquartered in Bahawalpur in Pakistan’s Punjab province, was founded by Maulana Masood Azhar and has been involved in several major terror attacks, including the 2019 Pulwama attack and a recent incident near Delhi’s Red Fort.

In his post, the activist further referred to what he termed “Operation Sindoor,” claiming that India had targeted and destroyed the Jaish-e-Muhammad headquarters in Bahawalpur, resulting in the deaths of several close relatives of Masood Azhar. These claims could not be independently verified.

Concluding his remarks, Beigh asserted that Pakistan’s observance of “Kashmir Solidarity Day” was misleading, adding that developments on the ground, rather than symbolic gestures, reflect the true situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
