As many as 12 people were killed and 15 others injured after a Maharashtra Roadways bus they were travelling in fell off the Khalghat Sanjay Setu in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday
The bus was enroute from Indore to Pune with 55 passengers on board when it lost balance and fell off the bridge.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressedg grief over the accident.
His office tweeted:
The bus tragedy in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh is saddening. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. Rescue work is underway and local authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected: PM @narendramodi— PMO India (@PMOIndia) July 18, 2022
The local police from Dhamnod and Khaltaka immediately rushed to the accident site for rescue operations.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation to give Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the each of the deceased's family.
