The Foreigner Cell of the Outer District of the Delhi Police has carried out a major crackdown on illegal immigration, apprehending 10 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly using fake medical visa arrangements.
According to police officials, deportation proceedings against the detained individuals have been initiated by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).
The Foreigner Cell launched a large-scale verification drive across the district to identify foreign nationals residing without valid Indian documents. As part of the operation, teams gathered intelligence and carried out continuous verification checks.
During the special drive, police received specific information about some foreign nationals suspected to be from Bangladesh who were allegedly staying in the area even after their visas had expired.
Investigations also revealed that the individuals were attempting to obtain medical visas for Bulgaria despite lacking valid documents to remain in India.
Acting on a tip-off on March 6, the police team reached near Peeragarhi Chowk and conducted discreet surveillance around a nearby DDA park.
When the suspects noticed the police presence, they attempted to flee but were quickly intercepted and apprehended by the team.
During questioning, none of the detained individuals could produce valid identity or travel documents. Further verification revealed that they were carrying expired passports and visas, confirming their illegal stay in India.
After completing legal formalities and interrogation, all 10 individuals were taken into custody. Police said deportation procedures are now underway in coordination with the FRRO.
