A Turkmenistan national was hospitalised after allegedly injuring himself with a knife outside a hotel in central Delhi’s Paharganj area while under the influence of intoxicants, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred outside the White Glow Hotel, where the man, identified as Jeyhun, had been staying from January 20 to February 10.
According to police, on February 11, Jeyhun returned to the hotel in an agitated and unstable condition and demanded accommodation, claiming he had no money to pay for a room. The hotel staff informed him that no rooms were available.
Following this, the man reportedly became aggressive and used a knife he was carrying to inflict injuries on his throat. Hotel authorities immediately alerted the local beat police.
By the time police personnel reached the spot, the man had already lost a significant amount of blood, officials said.
He was rushed to Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) Hospital, where he was admitted for emergency medical treatment.
