Police on Tuesday recovered the 24-year-old son of a Jamshedpur-based industrialist nearly two weeks after he was kidnapped, officials said.
Kairav, son of industrialist Devang Gandhi, was traced to Barhi in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district during an early morning operation. He was abducted on January 13 while travelling to his workplace in the Adityapur industrial area of Seraikela-Kharswan district.
Confirming the recovery, Jamshedpur City Superintendent of Police Kumar Sivashish said the victim was found unharmed and reunited with his family around 4.30 am.
According to the police, the kidnappers were attempting to move Kairav to a different location as security agencies intensified raids across multiple areas. Anticipating their movement, police teams were positioned along possible escape routes.
Faced with sustained pressure from the ongoing operation, the abductors reportedly abandoned Kairav on a roadside before fleeing the spot, an official statement said.
A search operation has been launched to identify and apprehend those involved in the abduction.
Earlier, investigators had recovered Kairav’s vehicle from the Kanderbeda stretch of National Highway-33 on the night he was kidnapped, which provided crucial leads in the case.
