Major Bengal police reshuffle, CID ADG Supratim Sarkar transferred

The West Bengal government on Tuesday transferred 28 IPS officers, including Additional Director General of CID Supratim Sarkar, and five WBPS officers in a major reshuffle of the state's police top brass, an official notification said.

Sarkar was posted as ADG, Telecommunications.

IPS officer N R Babu, who held the post of director general of the Correctional Services, will now be the DG and IGP, CID, it said.

Amit Kumar Rathod will replace Tripurari Atharv as the new commissioner of Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, the order said.

The Election Commission had, prior to the West Bengal assembly polls in April this year, transferred Sarkar from the post of Kolkata Police Commissioner.

K Jayraman, who was the ADG North Bengal, will be posted as the director of the Directorate of Economic Offences, the notification said.

ADG, Legal, Anand Singh will replace Vishal Garg as ADG, western zone, while the latter will take up the position of ADG, Intelligence Branch of the state police, the notification said.

Sudheer Kumar Neelakanthan will be the state's new IG, STF (Special Task Force), taking over from Praveen Kumar Tripathi, it said.

Pradeep Kumar Yadav will become the deputy commissioner of police in the cyber wing of Kolkata Police.

Bishop Sarkar will be the commanding officer of the newly formed Narayani Battalion, Cooch Behar, of the West Bengal Police, the notification stated.

Y S Jagannathrao will replace Pratiksha Jharkhariya as the superintendent of police (SP) of Darjeeling district, it said.

Manish Joshi will be the new SP of Cooch Behar district in north Bengal in place of Jaspreet Singh, the notification added.
