Nepal's Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal is scheduled to travel to China later this month on his first official visit to the neighbouring country since assuming office, according to sources in his secretariat.
Khanal is expected to visit China from June 15 to 16. While his office has confirmed the planned trip, Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has yet to issue a formal announcement detailing the itinerary.
During the visit, the foreign minister is likely to hold talks with senior Chinese leaders, including Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. He is also expected to meet Liu Haixing, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China.
Apart from official engagements, Khanal is likely to interact with members of the Nepali community residing in China.
The two-day trip will conclude with his return to Kathmandu on June 16.
