Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Monday said the Nitish Kumar-led government is committed to creating one crore jobs and employment opportunities in the state by 2030.
Addressing a joint sitting of both Houses of the legislature on the first day of the month-long Budget session, Khan said maintaining the rule of law and communal harmony remains a top priority of the government, which is pursuing the goal of “development with justice”.
“The government has so far provided jobs and employment opportunities to 50 lakh youths. By 2030, one crore youths will get jobs and employment opportunities,” the governor said.
The promise of providing one crore jobs was part of the NDA’s manifesto for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, which the BJP-led alliance won with a decisive majority.
Khan said strengthening law and order remains a key focus area, adding that the strength of the state police force has increased to 1.21 lakh personnel, while the number of police stations has risen to 10,380. He also claimed Bihar has the highest percentage of women police personnel in the country.
Highlighting women’s empowerment initiatives, the governor said the state now has around 1.40 crore women associated with ‘Jeevika’ self-help groups.
Referring to the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, launched ahead of the Assembly polls, Khan said women were being provided financial assistance to start their own businesses, with scope for further support based on performance.
