PM greets CRPF personnel on raising day of force

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted CRPF personnel on the raising day of the force and said that from ensuring internal security to serving citizens during challenging situations, the troops have always placed the nation first.

Modi also said that the efforts of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in eliminating the menace of Maoism are particularly notable and have contributed to peace and progress in the lives of several people.

"Greetings to all CRPF personnel on their Raising Day. The CRPF has distinguished itself through its unwavering courage and commitment to duty. From safeguarding internal security to serving citizens during challenging situations, CRPF personnel have always placed the nation first," the prime minister said in a post on X.

The CRPF is the premier central police force entrusted with maintaining internal security. It was established originally as the Crown Representative's Police on July 27, 1939. The force assumed the current name on December 28, 1949, following the enactment of the CRPF Act.

It is the world's largest paramilitary force responsible for a variety of law enforcement tasks in India.
