PM reaches Bengal's Malda to flag off India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in West Bengal’s Malda on Saturday to participate in official programmes and address a public rally.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will flag off India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train connecting Howrah and Guwahati (Kamakhya) from Malda Town station in north Bengal.

He is also set to inaugurate multiple rail and road infrastructure projects valued at over ₹3,250 crore, aimed at improving connectivity and boosting development across West Bengal and the North-Eastern region.

In addition, Modi will virtually flag off four Amrit Bharat Express trains linking New Jalpaiguri with Nagercoil and Tiruchirappalli, and Alipurduar with SMVT Bengaluru and Mumbai (Panvel).
