New Delhi
Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and said India remains firm in its resolve to defeat terrorism in all forms, everywhere.
In a post on X, the President said the tragic loss of innocent lives in the attack remains deeply embedded in the nation’s collective memory. She expressed condolences to the bereaved families and said the entire country stands with them.
Murmu added that acts of terror cannot weaken India’s unwavering commitment to peace, unity and national strength.
The attack last year claimed the lives of 25 tourists and one local pony handler, who were killed by three terrorists linked to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The three attackers were later killed in a July 28 encounter named Operation Mahadev on the outskirts of Srinagar, where they had reportedly been hiding in the Dachigam-Harwan forest region.
Following the Pahalgam attack, the Indian Armed Forces carried out Operation Sindoor on May 7 last year, targeting terror hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The operation reportedly struck nine locations, including headquarters and training centres linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, which India said were used to plan attacks against the country.
