Mumbai
Parts of Mumbai and neighbouring areas experienced light, unseasonal rainfall on Tuesday morning, officials said, marking the city’s second such weather event in January.
Earlier this month, the financial capital had seen unusually heavy showers on January 1. However, the latest spell was relatively mild, with most localities reporting brief drizzle rather than intense rain.
Light showers were recorded across the island city and western suburbs, while pockets of the eastern suburbs — especially areas between Ghatkopar and Bhandup — saw slightly heavier rainfall. The city had been under persistent cloud cover since Monday, creating conditions conducive to the sudden drizzle.

According to a civic official, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a “nowcast warning” around 7 am, forecasting light rain over Mumbai and adjoining Thane district. A yellow alert was also sounded for a three-hour window, advising residents to remain cautious while commuting and carrying out outdoor activities.
