Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday announced that a tender has been issued for the redevelopment of Raxaul Airport, a move aimed at improving air connectivity in Bihar’s border regions and accelerating economic development.
Located in East Champaran, the airport was originally established after the Sino-Indian War but has remained non-operational since the 1970s.
In a post on X, Choudhary described the development as a major boost for Bihar and credited Narendra Modi for supporting the initiative.
According to the chief minister, the tender has been issued for engineering consultancy services related to the airport’s reconstruction, including development of critical airside infrastructure such as the runway, apron and taxiway.
He said the project is expected to significantly improve connectivity in the border belt while linking the region more effectively with national and international destinations.
The redevelopment is also expected to benefit the wider Champaran region by creating fresh opportunities in trade, tourism and local economic activity.
