Traffic in several parts of New Delhi will be tightly regulated on Tuesday due to the India-European Union summit and a dinner for EU leaders at Rashtrapati Bhavan, authorities said.

The Delhi Traffic Police urged commuters to plan their travel in advance, warning of restrictions that coincide with unseasonal rainfall, which has slowed traffic and caused congestion on major roads.

According to the advisory, the first phase of curbs will be in effect until 5 pm. Vehicles will not be allowed to stop or park on key stretches including Janpath Road, Windsor Place, W-Point, Mathura Road, Bhairon Marg, and the C-Hexagon near India Gate. Vehicles violating the rules will be towed, with owners facing legal action. Towed vehicles will be held at the Traffic Pit on Kali Bari Mandir Marg and near Bhairon Mandir Traffic Pit.

The second phase of restrictions will run from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm to ensure smooth movement of dignitaries for the Rashtrapati Bhavan dinner. Roads affected during this period include Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, MLNP, Janpath Road, and Baba Kharak Singh Marg.

Several diversion points have been set up at key intersections, including Janpath-Tolstoy Marg, Tolstoy Marg-KG Marg, Ranjit Singh Flyover toward Barakhamba Road, Sunehri Masjid Road, Claridges Hotel junction, Akbar Road, Man Singh Road, and Bhagwan Das Road/Tilak Marg.

Motorists have been advised to avoid congested areas like Janpath Road, Tolstoy Marg, Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, Teen Murti Marg, Rafi Marg, and Raisina Road. Alternative routes suggested include Prithviraj Road, DDU Marg, Maulana Azad Road, Subramaniam Bharti Marg, Vande Mataram Marg, and K. Kamraj Marg.

Commuters traveling to airports, railway stations, and ISBTs were asked to allow extra travel time. The police also encouraged the public to use public transport whenever possible and follow on-ground instructions, especially given the slippery conditions caused by rain.
