In a pilot initiative to boost veteran welfare, the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps has begun home delivery of essential medicines to entitled veterans through the ECHS Polyclinic in Gangtok.

The project, implemented in collaboration with the Department of Posts and CSC e-Governance Services India Limited, aims to ensure safe, timely, and hassle-free delivery, particularly for veterans living in remote and difficult-to-access areas. During initial screening, the polyclinic identified around 58 beneficiaries from South, North, and West Sikkim who face challenges in collecting medicines due to long distances, tough terrain, and mobility constraints.

Based on the pilot’s outcomes, the ECHS Polyclinic plans to expand the service to additional beneficiaries, enhancing accessibility, ensuring continuity of medical care, and reducing the travel burden for elderly and physically challenged veterans.

This initiative is part of a pan-India programme by the Central Organisation Ex-Servicemen Health Scheme (ECHS), under the Adjutant General's Branch, reflecting the Army’s commitment to the welfare and dignity of veterans.
