Police seized 12 country-made explosive devices from two separate locations in Kerala’s Kannur district, officials said on Wednesday.

Eight crude bombs were recovered from a school ground at Thangal Peedika in Mokeri, under the jurisdiction of the Panoor police station. The explosives were found concealed among tarpaulin sheets kept on the premises, police said, adding that a machete was also recovered from the spot.

In a separate operation, four steel bombs were seized from a deserted plot in the Kannavam area. The devices were found packed inside a bag, officials said.

Police have launched an investigation to determine whether the two recoveries are connected and to identify those responsible for placing the explosive devices.
