Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that 108 areas in Srinagar are now receiving round-the-clock, uninterrupted electricity supply, benefiting around 1.25 lakh households, nearly 48 per cent of the city.
Congratulating the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Abdullah said 83 additional areas have been successfully brought under 24-hour power supply following a zero-power-cut trial under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
“Chief Minister today congratulated KPDCL on successfully making another 83 areas in Srinagar 24-hour power zones after a successful RDSS trial with zero power cuts,” the Office of the Chief Minister said in a post on X.
With the latest inclusion, a total of 108 areas in the summer capital are now enjoying uninterrupted electricity supply, Abdullah said, adding that similar upgrades are underway in other districts to ensure 24×7 power availability across the Union Territory.
The RDSS, launched by the Centre in July 2021, aims to improve the operational efficiency and financial sustainability of power distribution utilities, reduce technical and commercial losses, and ensure reliable electricity supply.

Officials said the project, being implemented by KPDCL and other agencies in Srinagar, involves large-scale infrastructure upgrades, including the installation of smart meters to curb power losses and enhance service delivery.
