Uttar Pradesh has secured investment commitments worth nearly Rs 3 lakh crore after signing multiple agreements at the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting held in Davos earlier this month, state Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press briefing, Khanna said the Uttar Pradesh delegation participated in the WEF meet from January 19 to 22 and held 119 meetings with global investors, including discussions with over 55 multinational companies. These engagements culminated in the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) across a wide range of sectors, he said.
Calling it a significant milestone for the state, Khanna said the outcome reflected growing confidence among international investors in Uttar Pradesh’s economic potential and governance framework.
The largest investment commitment, he said, was secured from Netherlands-based AM Green for an artificial intelligence-driven one-gigawatt data transfer project, involving an estimated investment of around USD 25 billion. “This is the biggest MoU signed by Uttar Pradesh at the Davos meeting,” the minister noted.
According to Khanna, investment agreements were concluded in key sectors such as data centres, renewable energy and green hydrogen, apart from defence manufacturing, tourism, food processing, logistics and warehousing, electric vehicles, pharmaceuticals and healthcare manufacturing.
He said Uttar Pradesh received an overwhelmingly positive response at Davos, with sustained interest from investors visiting the state’s pavilion. Khanna attributed the strong investor sentiment to improved road, rail and air connectivity, better infrastructure, and what he described as the clean public image of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Companies from countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Australia and Singapore participated in discussions with the state delegation, he said.
“Investors evaluate destinations on the basis of competitiveness and available facilities, and Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a strong contender on both fronts,” Khanna said.
The minister added that the state delegation comprised Finance Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Minister’s Secretary Amit Singh, Invest UP CEO Vijay Kiran Anand and New and Renewable Energy Development Agency Director Indrajeet Singh. He said more investment proposals are expected to materialise in the coming months.
