Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday said the state’s 2026–27 budget aims to promote balanced growth across sectors such as agriculture, industry, youth employment and women’s empowerment.

He said the financial plan would help move Uttarakhand towards prosperity while supporting skill development and innovation.

Speaking to ANI, Dhami said the budget was passed after more than 41 hours of discussion in the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly.

“It is our resolve that Uttarakhand becomes the best state in the country... We are continuously working hard and formulating plans. This time’s budget is moving in that direction so that every sector progresses,” he said.

Dhami emphasised the potential of women’s participation in economic development, stating that products made by women were gaining recognition despite difficult circumstances.

“Our mothers and sisters possess great capability. Provisions have been made in this budget for the skills, employment and innovation of the youth. Agriculture is a major sector,” he said.

He added that the budget had been prepared keeping all sections of society in mind and included measures to promote agriculture, horticulture and the industrial sector after consultations with stakeholders.

Dhami said he was satisfied that both the ruling and opposition members held detailed discussions before the general budget was passed.

Earlier, Gurmit Singh highlighted the government’s efforts to take the state to new heights through transparent and accountable governance during the budget session.

He stressed the need to strengthen infrastructure, expand digital services and promote public participation in governance.
