Virendra Kumar on Wednesday criticised Mallikarjun Kharge over his remark involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it derogatory and reflective of what he described as the Congress party’s “vile mindset.”
In a post on X, Kumar alleged that Congress politics was now driven by frustration rather than public issues. He said the opposition party was resorting to offensive language instead of engaging on development and welfare matters.
Kumar further said this was not the first time that Congress leaders had used such language against the prime minister and questioned how low the party would stoop politically.
The minister’s comments came after Kharge, while addressing a press conference in Chennai on Tuesday, accused Modi of terrorising political parties and the public through the alleged misuse of government agencies and state machinery.
During the interaction, Kharge initially referred to the prime minister as a “terrorist” while criticising the alliance between the AIADMK and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

When asked to clarify, Kharge said he did not mean the term literally, but was referring to what he described as the prime minister “terrorising” the democratic fabric of the country. He alleged misuse of power to target opposition parties and suppress dissent.
