The border village of Kallar in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district is mourning the loss of an Army man Havildar Mohd Iqbal, who was killed in a terrorist attack in Nagaland’s Chumoukedima district on Monday.
Iqbal, who served as a driver in the Army, had recently returned to duty after spending time with his family.
According to his relatives, he had promised to return home in September to help with the annual grass-cutting season. Instead, his family is now preparing for his final rites.

The attack took place near Shokhuvi when a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) struck an Assam Rifles vehicle during an operational movement. The explosion claimed Iqbal’s life and injured five others, including four security personnel and a civilian.

Remembering his son, Iqbal’s father, Choudhary Kalu, said the family had been eagerly waiting for his return.
His son also spoke to media:
