India’s rising squash star Anahat Singh progressed to the women’s semifinals of the British Junior Under-19 Open after a hard-fought victory at the University of Birmingham on Sunday.
The teenage top seed defeated Egypt’s Barb Sameh 11-4, 10-12, 11-9, 11-3 in the quarterfinals to book a place in the last four. Anahat will next face Egyptian third-fourth seed Malika El Karasky for a spot in the final.
The Delhi-based player has enjoyed a dominant run in the tournament. She began her campaign with a straight-games win over Hong Kong’s Wing Kai Gladys Ho (11-1, 11-3, 11-3) in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. Anahat then outclassed Egypt’s Malak ElMaraghy 11-3, 11-3, 11-6 in the pre-quarterfinals.
Anahat is coming off an impressive 2025 season, during which she climbed to a career-high world ranking of 28 in just her second year on the professional tour and registered wins over two top-20 players.

In other results, Indian second seed Aryaveer Dewan advanced to the boys’ Under-17 semifinals after edging past Egypt’s Yassin Kouritam in a tense five-game quarterfinal, winning 9-11, 11-3, 10-12, 11-9, 12-10.
