Reliance Foundation founder-chairperson Nita Ambani on Monday felicitated the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team along with members of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024-winning Indian team and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025-winning Indian women’s team at the second edition of the ‘United in Triumph’ event held in Mumbai.
The celebration brought together players from all three teams under one roof in the presence of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar and International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah.
The event honoured the Indian men’s team, led by Rohit Sharma, which clinched the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup title after defeating South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final at Barbados, powered by a decisive half-century from Virat Kohli and disciplined bowling in the death overs.
It also celebrated the Indian women’s team, which secured the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 title by beating South Africa by 52 runs at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium. The victory was anchored by standout all-round performances from Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma.
Additionally, the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team was recognised for winning the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind in Sri Lanka, where they defeated Nepal by seven wickets while comfortably chasing a target of 115.
Addressing the gathering, Nita Ambani said, “We are beginning the New Year with a very special moment. All three Indian cricket teams are here together, and on behalf of every Indian, we honour them for the joy and pride they have given the nation.”
Highlighting the unifying power of sport, she added, “Sport brings hearts and the country together. Today, we are truly united in triumph as we celebrate their victories.”
The evening also spotlighted the leadership of India’s three World Cup-winning captains — Rohit Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepika TC — whose vision and resilience have scripted historic achievements.
