The Indian Golf Union on Wednesday announced a three-member Indian women’s team for the upcoming Queen Sirikit Cup, scheduled to be held in Indonesia from May 12 to 15.
Young golfer Guntas Kaur Sandhu will lead India’s campaign in the prestigious Asia-Pacific amateur team championship, organised by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation in partnership with The R&A.
A total of 15 countries, including defending champions South Korea, will compete in this year’s tournament. Other participating nations include Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Sandhu, who topped the 2025 Ladies Order of Merit, enters the tournament in excellent form. The Chandigarh golfer has enjoyed a strong 2025-26 season, registering six titles and finishing inside the top 10 in 17 of her 20 appearances on the IGU circuit.
She will be joined by Ceerat Kang of Haryana and Keya Badugu from Delhi.
Officially known as the Amateur Ladies Asia-Pacific Invitational Golf Team Championship, the Queen Sirikit Cup was first held in 1979 and named in honour of Queen Sirikit. India has featured in every edition since the tournament’s inception.
India enjoyed a memorable moment in 2023 when Avani Prashanth captured the individual title, ending a 43-year wait for the country.

The championship will be played over 54 holes, with teams consisting of three players. Each day, the best two scores from each team will count towards the final standings. The winning side will also earn an exemption into The R&A Girls Amateur championship.
