PV Sindhu to lead India's challenge at BWF World Championships 2026

Two-time Olympic medallist P. V. Sindhu will spearhead India's 10-member contingent at the BWF World Championships, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from August 17 to 23.

According to the final qualification list released by the Badminton World Federation, Sindhu secured her place in the women's singles draw as India's host representative under BWF qualification rules.

The final entries were determined based on world rankings as of April 28, with 64 players each qualifying in men's and women's singles, and 48 pairs in each doubles category.

Sindhu's impressive world championship record

Sindhu remains India's most successful player at the World Championships. She:

  • Won the gold medal in 2019,
  • Claimed silver medals in 2017 and 2018,
  • Has consistently been among India's strongest contenders on the global stage.

Satwik-Chirag lead India's top-ranked entries

India's highest-ranked entrants are men's doubles stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who qualified as the fourth-ranked pair overall.

Meanwhile, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will headline India's women's doubles campaign after qualifying as the country's top-ranked pair.
