Three Indian students were among at least 40 people injured in a terrorist attack at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, Australian media reported on Tuesday.
According to The Australia Today news portal, two of the three Indian students are currently undergoing treatment in hospital, while the condition of the third was not immediately known. The identities of the injured Indian nationals have not been disclosed.
The students sustained injuries during the shooting that took place on Sunday at a public gathering held as part of the ‘Hanukkah by the Sea’ celebrations. Officials have not yet issued a formal medical update on their condition, the report said.
At least 15 people were killed in the attack, including a 10-year-old child, while five injured victims remain in critical condition. Two police officers who were wounded during the incident are reported to be in serious but stable condition.
The alleged attackers have been identified as Naveed Akram (24) and his father, aged 50, who allegedly opened fire on the gathering, the report said.

New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said the investigation was widening as new information continues to emerge. This includes scrutiny of the alleged attackers’ international travel history and the recovery of extremist material, according to the report.
