Iran on Wednesday executed a man accused of having ties with Mossad, as authorities continue a series of executions during the ongoing conflict and following nationwide protests earlier this year.
According to Mizan News Agency, the man was identified as Mehdi Farid. The report said he worked for a “sensitive state organisation” and passed information to the Israeli intelligence service.
Iranian authorities said Farid was convicted in Qom province.
Human rights groups have frequently criticised Iran’s judicial system, alleging that defendants in such cases are often tried behind closed doors without adequate legal defence.
