The New Delhi World Book Fair 2026 (NDWBF 2026), currently underway in the capital, is witnessing tremendous enthusiasm, with readers, writers, publishers, and culture enthusiasts from around the world participating in large numbers. Qatar’s presence as the Guest of Honour is among the major highlights of this prestigious international event.
Being a special invitee, the Qatar pavilion showcases more than just the literary prowess of Qatar.
Its exhibition of unique and exquisite jewellery comes across as a vivid expression of the country’s rich cultural heritage, maritime history, and traditional craftsmanship. Passed down through generations, this tradition reflects the elegance, dignity, and refined aesthetic of Arab culture.
Qatar has historically shared a deep connection with the sea, a relationship clearly reflected in its traditional jewellery. In ancient times, pearl diving formed the backbone of Qatar’s economy. As a result, natural pearls held a special place in Qatari jewellery, often set with exceptional artistry in gold and silver.

High-purity gold is a defining feature of Qatari jewellery. Traditional designs frequently incorporate geometric patterns, floral motifs, and Arabic designs. These are not only visually appealing but also represent Qatari identity and cultural symbolism.
Qatari women’s jewellery is closely associated with special occasions and traditional ceremonies. Necklaces, earrings, bangles, nose rings, and head ornaments complement traditional attire, creating a complete and dignified appearance. Intricate engravings and handcrafted detailing are key attractions of these pieces.
The identity of Qatari jewellery is deeply tied to the skill and dedication of its artisans. Traditional craftsmen have passed their expertise down through generations. These handcrafted pieces are not unique but also form an integral part of Qatar’s cultural memory.
In contemporary times, Qatari jewellery is blending traditional styles with modern designs. Contemporary Qatari jewellery designers are reinterpreting traditional elements in new forms, enabling these creations to establish a distinct identity on the global stage.
