Google DeepMind CEO and co-founder Demis Hassabis has confirmed his participation in the upcoming AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, following his meeting with Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Scheduled for February 2026, the summit is set to spotlight India’s expanding role in shaping the global artificial intelligence ecosystem, with a focus on responsible development, policy frameworks and real-world applications of AI technologies.

The confirmation came amid a series of high-level engagements by Minister Vaishnaw in Davos, where he held discussions with leading global technology executives on innovation, governance and the future growth of the digital sector.

Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, Hassabis underlined the importance of continued dialogue on AI and India’s position in the global technology landscape. The talks, he noted, explored how advanced AI systems could be leveraged to address large-scale global challenges.

“Great to meet you Minister @AshwiniVaishnaw. Really enjoyed our discussion on AI’s incredible potential to benefit humanity and India’s important role in realising this. Looking forward to continuing our conversation at the Summit,” Hassabis wrote.

The DeepMind chief’s commitment to attend the February event aligns with the Indian government’s broader push to make New Delhi a hub for international AI policy and collaboration.

During the forum, Vaishnaw also met OpenAI’s Chief Global Affairs Officer Chris Lehane, stressing the need for cooperative global frameworks to ensure technology serves public good. He said the AI Impact Summit would provide an opportunity for global technology leaders to engage directly with India’s rapidly evolving digital infrastructure.
