Jamia is among India’s top three varsities: NIRF-2022

Jamia Milia Islamia University is ranked as India’s 3rd top university in the Ministry of Education’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) - 2022.
 
The NIRF ranking list was released by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
 
According to the spokesperson of the(JMI), the University with a NAAC A++ accreditation has significantly improved its position from 6th in the NIRF ranking.The Ministry of Education initiated ranking higher educational institutions in the country in 2016.
 
JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar received the award from Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday at a function to declare the rankings.
 
Expressing her delight in the landmark achievement, Prof. Najma Akhtar said, “By the grace of Almighty, JMI has been climbing up the ladder persistently. The university has been making consistent efforts to improve the quality of teaching, learning, and research. In NIRF rankings we have progressed from 83rd rank in 2016 to 6th rank in 2021 and now figures among three top universities of the nation.”

She further said, “This remarkable achievement was possible because of the relevant and focused research of highest quality and teaching by the dedicated and devoted faculty members of the university”.
 
Prof. Akhtar further said that the university is committed to realizing the vision of the government and will continue to strive for further improvement in our national and international rankings. She also attributed the achievement to the improved perception of the university about teaching, placements, research, etc.

The university has become one of the sought-after institutions by the students and the increase in the number of applications for admissions is a testimony to it.
 
“We hope to do better in the coming years”, said the Vice-Chancellor.

It is worth mentioning that the university has improved its position significantly in the 'research' category where it secured 19th rank over last year’s 30th position (NIRF 2021). The university also improved its position in Architecture, Engineering, Dental, and Management categories and maintained its position in Law.
