Macmillan Education India has announced the continuation of its partnership with Microsoft Corporation India under the Microsoft Elevate programme to strengthen artificial intelligence (AI) literacy and digital skills among educators and secondary school students across the country.

The collaboration, first signed in 2024, is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises the integration of technology in teaching and the development of future-ready competencies in school education.

As part of the initiative, Macmillan Education India said it has reached more than 10,000 schools and engaged over 15,000 educators through webinars and online courses focused on the basics of AI and 21st-century learning design. The courses aim to equip teachers with practical tools to integrate AI into classroom instruction and improve learning outcomes.

In partnership with Microsoft, Macmillan has also launched artificial intelligence textbooks for Classes 9 and 10, aligned with the CBSE Skill Course curriculum (Code 417). The books introduce students to AI fundamentals, ethical considerations and real-world applications. Microsoft-certified courses mapped to the curriculum are aimed at enhancing students’ employability, while the content is supported by AI-powered tools to personalise learning.

Speaking on the initiative, Rajesh Pasari, Managing Director, Macmillan Education India, said the programme focuses on empowering teachers to understand and effectively use AI in teaching. He noted that AI literacy has become essential for preparing students for future careers in a technology-driven world.

The programme is being implemented nationwide, with customised teacher training sessions conducted in select schools that have adopted Macmillan’s coding programme, Emerging Tech Stars. Participating educators gain access to Microsoft’s AI resources along with Macmillan’s curated educational content.
