Hollywood actor Anne Hathaway has gone viral on social media after using the phrase “Inshallah” during a recent interview for a magazine cover feature.
The 43-year-old star, who is set to return in the sequel to her popular film The Devil Wears Prada, spoke to People magazine about her early career, personal growth, motherhood, and reuniting with co-stars Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt.
During the conversation, Hathaway reflected on embracing life in her 40s and her evolving perspective on success, failure and uncertainty. While expressing her hopes for a long and fulfilling life, she casually used the term “Inshallah”—an Arabic expression meaning “God willing.”
She noted that with age, she has learned to approach life with greater calm and balance, valuing stability over the emotional extremes she experienced earlier in her life and career.
The clip of her using the phrase quickly gained traction online, with many users praising the natural and respectful way in which she incorporated it into her remarks.
Fans flooded social media platforms with positive reactions, calling the moment endearing and highlighting the universal nature of such expressions. Some users pointed out that phrases like “Inshallah” can be appreciated across cultures, regardless of religious background.
