Singer and actor Ariana Grande has signalled a return to live performances after a six-year break, offering a glimpse into preparations for her upcoming Eternal Sunshine Tour during the 31st Critics Choice Awards.
Speaking to E! News on the black carpet outside the Barker Hangar on January 4, Grande said she has been actively working on the tour while also completing promotional commitments for Wicked: For Good, which earned seven nominations at the awards ceremony.
“I’ve been putting the set list together for months now,” Grande told E! News correspondent Justin Sylvester. “It feels like it’s in a good place, but you never really know until rehearsals begin—which is happening very soon—and everything comes together on its feet.”
Despite fans’ eagerness, the pop star chose not to share further specifics about the tour. “I’d rather keep it a surprise,” she added, as reported by E! News.
The Eternal Sunshine Tour will be Grande’s first major tour in six years. Reflecting on her return to the stage, she said the experience would not fundamentally alter who she is as a person. “I think I’m the same person,” she said, adding that she feels grateful to continue working and is looking forward to touring again.
Grande also spoke warmly about supporting her Wicked co-star and close friend Bowen Yang. She joined him during his final episode of Saturday Night Live on December 20, which she hosted.
“It was incredibly special,” Grande said. “I just wanted to celebrate him and be there for him. I love him so much—we’re truly friends for life,” according to E! News.
As she prepares to move beyond the Wicked chapter, the 32-year-old expressed a sense of contentment and accomplishment. “It actually feels really beautiful,” she said. “We’re so proud of what we’ve created, and now it’s been shared with the world,” she added.
