Princess of Wales Kate Middleton has shared that her lifestyle has changed significantly since her cancer diagnosis, revealing that she has greatly reduced her alcohol consumption and become more mindful of her eating and drinking habits.
During a visit on March 12 to Southwark Brewing Company in London with her husband, Prince William, Kate declined offers of beer and cider, instead opting for a soft drink while engaging with brewery staff and visitors. “Since my diagnosis, I haven’t had much alcohol. It’s something I now have to be a lot more conscious of,” she told owner Hannah Rhodes, according to E! News.
Prince William lightened the mood by joking about being the family’s cider enthusiast. “I’m a cider man. I grew up on cider in the West Country,” he told onlookers. Kate also participated in brewery activities, playfully stirring a brewhouse kettle and joking, “What am I doing?”
Following the brewery visit, the royal couple explored shops at Borough Market, interacting with vendors and tourists, and even served desserts at Humble Crumble. The couple are parents to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Since announcing her diagnosis in March 2024, Kate has focused on recovery, sharing reflections on gratitude, patience, and healing. In a January birthday post, she wrote about finding stillness and peace through nature, saying the winter season allows one to see “our own reflection, to discover the deepest parts of ourselves.”
Kate revealed in January 2025 that she is now in remission, noting that public engagements have helped lift her spirits during her recovery. Her recent visit highlighted both her commitment to royal duties and her journey toward mindful living post-cancer.
