Lady Gaga added another milestone to her glittering career on Sunday, winning the 2026 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album for her latest release, Mayhem. The global pop icon triumphed in a competitive category that featured Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Teddy Swims, and last year’s winner Sabrina Carpenter.

An emotional Gaga took the stage to accept the honour, reflecting on her long journey in music and the surreal feeling of being recognised at the Grammys even after decades in the industry. She spoke warmly about her beginnings as a child artist and admitted that the moment still feels unreal every time she walks onto the Grammy stage.

The singer also dedicated a heartfelt portion of her speech to her partner, Michael, crediting him for being a constant source of support throughout the making of Mayhem. Gaga said he stood by her “every single day” and worked closely with her on the album, calling his presence invaluable to her creative process.

Using her acceptance speech to spotlight gender challenges in the music industry, Gaga delivered a powerful message to women artists. Acknowledging that studios are often male-dominated spaces, she urged women to trust their instincts, stand their ground creatively, and make sure their voices are heard.

Describing Mayhem as a reflection of discipline, craftsmanship, and relentless hard work, Gaga said the album represents her belief in creative integrity and perseverance. She thanked fans and fellow artists for supporting her work and for continuing to believe in her vision.

The win marks Gaga’s second Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album, following her 2011 victory for The Fame Monster. Earlier in the day, she also picked up an award for Best Dance Pop Recording, as several categories were announced ahead of the televised ceremony.

With Mayhem, Lady Gaga once again proved her staying power, blending artistry, advocacy, and emotion on one of music’s biggest stages.
