Michael Waldron, the writer of "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" and creator of Disney+ series "Loki", is developing a "Nova" feature film for Marvel Studios.
The project is in the early stages of development at the studio with Waldron attached to write the screenplay and expected to direct the film if it moves forward, reported Deadline.
The studio had previously been developing "Nova" as a television series with writer Sabir Pirzada. The project was shelved in 2025 before being revived as a feature film.
Created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist John Romita Sr, Nova first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1976. The character is a member of the intergalactic Nova Corps and possesses superhuman abilities including enhanced strength, flight and durability.
Waldron has an established relationship with Marvel, having written "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular superhero, and served as creator and showrunner of the Disney+ series "Loki", which saw Tom Hiddleston reprise his MCU role of Loki.
