The makers of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s crime thriller ‘Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders’ have announced the release date of the film, marking the return of the actor as Inspector Jatil Yadav, the intense investigator who earned praise in the 2020 hit Raat Akeli Hai.

The Honey Trehan-directed sequel will premiere globally on Netflix on December 19, shortly after its world premiere at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

Set in Kanpur, the film explores the brutal massacre of an influential family inside their palatial home. As Jatil Yadav takes charge of the case, the probe uncovers a disturbing maze of money, legacy, power and buried secrets.

Written by Smita Singh, the new chapter expands the original film’s universe with new characters, new conflicts and a darker tone. While the first film revolved around a single murder, this instalment delves into the ripple effects of a mass killing, challenging everything that wealth and reputation try to hide.

The ensemble cast includes Chitrangada Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Deepti Naval, Ila Arun, Revathy, Akhilendra Mishra, Priyanka Setia, Sanjay Kapoor and Radhika Apte, alongside Siddiqui.

Bringing back the gritty atmosphere and emotional tension of the original, the sequel promises a deeper psychological thriller driven by secrets, suspicion and power dynamics.
