Fans of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo can mark their calendars a little earlier than expected. The sequel to the animated hit Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is now scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 13, 2027, advancing from its previously announced September release.
The upcoming film, titled Mutant Mayhem 2, is helmed by director Jeff Rowe, with Kyler Spears and Yashar Kassai serving as co-directors. Rowe and Spears were also part of the creative team behind the first instalment, working alongside producers and writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who are returning for the sequel.
The production team includes James Weaver, Josh Fagen and Ramsay McBean from Point Grey, while Lukas Williams will serve as executive producer.
Paramount has been steadily expanding the TMNT universe in recent years, with renewed emphasis under Skydance’s leadership. The first Mutant Mayhem film, released in August 2023, performed strongly at the global box office, earning over 181 million USD worldwide.
In addition to the animated sequel, the studio has slated an untitled live-action/CG hybrid Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film for November 17, 2028. This project will mark the franchise’s return to live-action storytelling for the first time since 2016’s Out of the Shadows.

Beyond films, the franchise is branching out into multiple ventures. These include a major toy licensing partnership with Mattel beginning in 2027, new publishing projects such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splinter’s Dojo for middle-grade readers and a novel adaptation of The Last Ronin, as well as a preschool-focused digital series titled Teeny Mutant Ninja Turtles for YouTube. The brand is also stepping into experiential spaces, with themed pizzerias planned for Santa Monica, Monterrey and Sao Paulo.
With its expanding slate across cinema, publishing, digital content and consumer products, the TMNT franchise appears poised for a new chapter of global growth.
