Kannada film star Yash has been unveiled as Raya in the first official glimpse of his upcoming film “Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups”, with the teaser released on Thursday to mark the actor’s 40th birthday.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film marks Yash’s return to the big screen after the massive success of “KGF: Chapter 2” in 2022. The makers shared the brief teaser on social media, giving audiences their first look at the actor in a gritty, action-heavy avatar.

Released by KVN Productions, the teaser is set against a sombre cemetery backdrop and features Yash amid gunfire and intense action, hinting at the dark and violent tone of the narrative. Introducing the character, the production house captioned the video, “Get a good look at your danger – Introducing RAYA.”

The reveal of Yash’s character follows earlier announcements of the film’s female cast, which includes Kiara Advani as Nadia, Nayanthara as Ganga, Huma Qureshi as Elizabeth, Rukmini Vasanth as Melissa and Tara Sutaria as Rebecca.

Apart from playing the lead, Yash is also closely involved in the creative process, serving as both co-writer and co-producer of the project. Mohandas has co-written the film in addition to directing it.

Toxic is being filmed simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in multiple languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, aimed at a wide pan-Indian and global audience.

The film’s technical crew features cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, music composer Ravi Basrur, editor Ujwal Kulkarni and production designer T P Abid. The action sequences are being designed by international stunt coordinator JJ Perry along with Anbariv and Kecha Khamphakdee.
