Ali Haydor creates social awareness through paintings

As one enters Nazira, a small town in the Sivasagar district of upper Assam, one is drawn to the brightly coloured walls. These paintings ask the visitors to keep the environment clean. Inside Dibrugarh's Banipur railway station, hang two huge paintings depicting the ethos of Assam - tea and Bihu. In Charaideo's Gandhi museum inside Siukapha Kendra dolls on display tell the life story of Mahatma Gandhi. These are just three samples of the internationally acclaimed artist and sculptor Ali Haydor's works open to public view.
 
Ali who resides in Na-Mati, Nazira in the Sivasagar district of upper Assam said that he made all these requests from the Nazira district administration, NF Railways, and authorities of the museum.
 
The artist is the Principal of Nazira Chitrakala Kendra which is affiliated with Kaladarshan Fine Art & Sangeet Academy, Assam and he is also an assistant teacher at Markaz Academy in Nazira.

Ali was recently in Jorhat where he exhibited 11 of his paintings at a 3 day exhibition along with three other renowned artists of the state. Among his paintings hangs a portrait of the Hindu deity Ganesha.
 
The prolific painter said, "I have made several paintings of Lord Ganesh, Durga, and Krishna which have all been sold. I have also created decorations in mandaps of Goddess Durga and her consorts and have created the sets for the performance of bhaonas in Raas Lila".

Bhaonas depict stories from the life of Lord Krishna and are part of the Shankari culture as propagated by the 15th-century neo-Vaisnavite saint, philosopher, and socio-religious reformer Srimanta Sankardev.
 
Ali Haydor uses oil, water colour, and acrylic to bring alive his canvases, and his subjects range from the abstract to the realistic -- the human form, natural and other objects, and portraits -- all make up his compositions.

At 35, the artist has an impressive array of awards and certificates. In the international sphere, he boasts of a Silver award from Kalaratnam Foundation of Art India, an international online art exhibition and competition in 2020, a Gold Award in another International online art exhibition/competition in 2020 from “KFOAS” (Bareilly), a certificate of participation in the International Group Art exhibition from April 20 to 25, , 2021 at Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata, a Leonardo da Vinci international art award, 2021, Rainbow Art World, an International Picasso Silver award, 2021 from GM Fine Art and Culture, West Bengal and a Nobel World Artist VIP Certificate 2021, Germany.
 
Ali Haydor said that his artworks are on display in Egypt and Germany though he has not visited these countries.
 
"Digital copies of my paintings were displayed after being downloaded from the computer and printed, " he said adding that he was a member of an international group of artists on WhatsApp.

Ali Haydor has been awarded the title of Visista Chitra Kala Acharya Ratna Award” held by Viswakaladarshini, Andhra Pradesh in the 8th All India Child & Youth Art Exhibition, 2008, and the Best Teacher Award, 2008 from Chitrakala 3rd All India Youth and Child Art Exhibition 2008 (Ahmedabad).

At home, the Asam Sahitya Sabha, Sivasagar 2017 gave him a Swikriti Patra and In 2005 he had been honoured with the title Sukumar Shilpi Bota from Sivasagar Chitrakala Kendra.
 
Aliv live painted a portrait of Rabindranath Tagore in oneone minute on a bottle lid. This fete led to his name being registered in the Assam Book of Records in 2020.
 
During the pandemic days in 2020, he whiled away his time by painting 50 pictures in 45 days and received the Indian Excellency Award from the India Book of Records.
Having attained Ankan Siromoni (Senior Diploma) from the Society of Fine Art & Craft, West Bengal, Ali has been awarded the prestigious title Swadesh Precious Ratna Award 2020 by Swadesh Foundation, UP in the Firozabad festival and to cap them all is the Dr. S. Radhakrishnan award 2020 as Special Nation Builder and Innovative teacher.
