The Andaman and Nicobar Police has launched a two-week specialised training programme in personal security officer duties and tactical driving in collaboration with the National Security Guard (NSG), officials said.

The training programme from August 17 is aimed at strengthening the professional skills and operational preparedness of police personnel engaged in VVIP security and close protection duties, they said.

A total of 100 personnel are participating – 70 undergoing PSO training and 30 receiving tactical driving training. The exercise is being conducted at the Police Training School, Prothrapur.

"The training covers security drills, vehicle control, safe and tactical driving, parking principles and other operational aspects of VVIP security," DGP Ravindra Singh Yadav told PTI.

He also interacted with the NSG team and the participating personnel.

Yadav said such specialised training would enhance the capabilities of the police force, strengthen security preparedness and effectiveness in VVIP and close protection duties in the Islands.
