A 43-year-old man from Assam died after allegedly falling from a moving train in Balasore district of Odisha, police said on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Niran Biswas, a resident of Chintagaon village in Udalguri district.

The incident occurred near Sabira railway station on Sunday when Biswas was returning home from Tamil Nadu along with some relatives, police said.

Officials suspect that he accidentally fell from the running train.

After a post-mortem examination, the body was sent to his hometown by ambulance. Police said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
