Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia shared an age-old remedy to cope with intense summer heat, saying he carries an onion in his pocket.
Scindia was addressing locals at Pichhore in his Guna constituency during a programme on Sunday evening.
He said that while most people in modern times carry mobile phones, he keeps an onion with him because it helps regulate body temperature in scorching conditions. He then surprised the audience by pulling one out of his pocket.
“I don’t use AC in my car, I just carry an onion in my pocket,” he said.
“Keep an onion in your pocket; nothing will happen even in 51-degree heat,” the minister added.

As Scindia spoke, an elderly man in the crowd smiled and produced an onion from his own pocket in a gesture of agreement.
