Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday visited Belur Math for the first time after assuming office as chief minister.

Officials said Adhikari reached the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission in the morning and met the president maharaj of the order during the visit.

Senior monks welcomed the chief minister at the sprawling monastery complex situated on the banks of the Hooghly river.

“It was a spiritual visit. The chief minister sought blessings from the revered monks and spent some time at the Math,” a senior official said.
